Bodega Colomé, Torrontes Salta, Argentina $19
Torrontés is Argentina’s flagship native white grape, which reaches its highest expression in this region of Salta, a 17 hour drive N x NW of Mendoza. Colomé has been thriving here since 1831! Torrontés offers the floral notes of roses, the citrus aroma of grapefruit and a spicy hint. In the mouth it is fresh, round and well-bodied with a long, elegant finish.
Bodegas, Bianchi, Malbec San Rafael - Mendoza, Argentina $21
THE Mendoza grape Malbec. Dark, purple hues with aromas of fresh black cherries, tangy herbs and spices With a hint of white pepper and violet. Fruity, firm, and slightly simple and direct on the medium-bodied palate, but shows excellent balance and drinkability with its crunchy dark fruit.
Pascual Toso Malbec Reserve Maipú - Mendoza, Argentina $25
Medium to full-bodied, juicy and plush, with fresh acidity. The wine shows silky, round, yet firm tannins, moderate oak char, and a pronounced fruit-driven profile. A touch of tightness and smoothness leads into a medium-length, fruit-oriented finish with subtle spice.
Zuccardi, “Emma” Bonarda Uco - Mendoza, Argentina $44
Zuccardi named this wine after his grandmother, and was the first wine this now globally popular winery made! The first Bonarda vines were brought to Argentina by European immigrants at the end of the 19th century; and it was for many years confused with Bonarda from Piedmont Region, Strawberries, cherries, blueberries and raspberries. Silky smooth with a juicy entrance and lively acidity, it offers elegant tannins that give a great structure followed by a very long finish.
