Italian Reds
Tasting through Italy with all Rosso! We taste mostly Tuscany wines, where the grape Sangiovese is king. A Super-Tuscan is a wines Sangiovese with additions of French grapes (gasp…) 100 years ago the Italian farmers revolted against the foreign grapes, but the consumer prevailed because the result is a delicious wine! We also sample a red Cannonau from Sardinia! Gotta catch em all!

Vallepiaccela, “Pievasciatta” Rosso Tuscany, Italy $20
A blend inspired by Super Tuscans, thoughtful oak aging, and a greater focus on depth and modern elegance, making it stand out in its category. Mostly Sangiovese with a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon.
San Felice, “Il Grigio” Chianti Classico Tuscany, Italy $24
Deep ruby red. Rich, long-lingering aromas are redolent of violets and wild red berry fruit. Il Grigio is a full-bodied wine, lean and firm, with succulent tannins and a tangy acidity. Offers cherry and plum fruit, framed by flavors of earth, minerals and wild herbs. This red wine oscillates between elegance and power and is wonderfully balanced. Dusty tannins support the fruit on the long finish.
Rocca Di Frassinello Le Sughere Maremma Tuscany, Italy $29
Super Tuscan! Deep ruby colour, with a broad bouquet of red fruits. It has great substance in the mouth, with soft and round tannins and a long and enveloping finish
Renosu - Dettori, Rosso Sardinia, Italy $25
Headed by Alessandro Dettori, who began working with his father in 1990 from a family estate that has been growing grapes and producing wine since theWild aromatics of rosemary, the myrtle berry, thyme and cloves. Organic and biodynamic red from Sardinia made from the local Cannonau grape.
