Humble Vine

Wednesday, November 5th

2-8 PM

Wine Tasting: $25

Feravino, “SoHu” Graševina                       Slavaonia, Croatia  $24

SoHu (south of Hungary). A Croatian grape variety, grown on volcanic soils with clay stone and granite bedrock, in a continental climate with dry, warm summers and cold, snowy winters. 100% Welschriesling, aged in stainless steel tanks for 10 months. Aromas of mineral, and fresh notes of green apple, lemon, Anjou pear. Bright, crisp with delicious viscosity and acidity, silky/steely texture, zesty dry finish.

Dila-o Rkatsiteli-Mtsvane        Kakheti, Georgia$26

Planted underground inlay Amphora, called Qvevri with just one month of skin contact. Fermented in traditional underground clay vessels called Qvevri, this 50/50 blend of Rkatsiteli and Mtsvane spends one month on the skins, creating a lighter expression of the amber (orange) wine style.

Dry amber wine from Georgia, made with equal parts Rkatsiteli and Mtsvane grapes fermented in underground qvevri clay vessels. It has one month of skin contact, offering bright, fresh aromas of melon, apricot, and citrus with soft tannins and good acidity. This lighter style of orange wine is very approachable and pairs well with salads, salmon, and poultry. It’s an excellent, value-driven introduction to Georgian orange wines.

Sanctum, “Leptir" Pinot Noir            Štajerska, Slovenia     $31

Bright, intense fruit profile with layers of red berries, cherries, and earthy nuances. It has a smooth structure with a balanced acidity, light tannins, and a savory, approachable finish.

Southern exposure characterized by marl, clay, and sand soils. Minimal intervention, spontaneous fermentation, 12 months aging in used French oak. Wine is of gentle ruby colour. Very elegant, with a hint of cherry fruit. Smooth tannins, firm acidity, well integrated oak. Cherry and plum fruit on the palate, supported by a subtle hint of rich coffee. After taste is long and decisive.

Daila Gaamez, Gamay                    Negotinska Krajina, Serbia.  $30

Medium body, bright acidity, aromas of red fruits like cherry and raspberry, with subtle earthy and spice notes. Deep red-violet color with a rich bouquet of earthy and stemmy notes alongside dark red fruits like dark cherry and raspberry. It has a balanced body with silky tannins, lively acidity, and a finish that reveals nuances of licorice, bramble, subtle cocoa nibs, and lingering complexity.
