France
We visit France for a wonderful day of tasting. For the lighter wines we have Provence Rosé, and a Loire Muscadet. And for the reds we compare Gamay from 2 regions: Loire Gamay, and a Beaujolais Gamay. Juicy and fun wines.

Cognettes, “les 2 Terres” Muscadet Loire Valley, France $21
Muscadet is a wine made of stone and salt. Grown in sight of the sea with granite soils. Grown in the Muscadet region of the most western Loire, with the grape being Melon de Bourgogne. Aged Sur lie, or on the yeast. Aromas of yellow apple, dragonfruit, and lemon curd are here too, before a full bodied palate tense with acid and well defined mineral notes. Powerfully strong flavors of apples and melons and lemons drift off to a delicately salty finish.
La Madone, Cotes du Forez Gamay Loire Valley, France $25
A warm purple color with lighter violet edges. The aromas are of plush red and black berries, minerality, black tea, with herbal notes. Palate has tart cherries and plums, a flash of limestone, and a hint of rich, woodsy earth develops on a long, engaging finish. The wine's structure is crisp but juicy.
Pascal Jean Philipe Granger, Chenas “Aux Pierres” Beaujolais, France $26
Chénas appellation, which is the smallest of the ten Beaujolais crus. Light to medium-bodied with high acidity and low tannins, making the wine zesty and easy to drink. You’ll find tart, vibrant, raspberry and lilac, watermelon, and plum
