Dao Tinto is a true blend of the Portuguese Dao region! Many different local red grape varieties that together let you discover a fruity and balanced wine. Medium body, round with notes of black cherry and blackberry and a lovely aromatic finish. Biodynamic and organic red blend. The wine expresses the local terroir and the estate’s commitment to sustainable viticulture. Fully organic and biodynamic, with certification in place since 2000. Vale Donna Maria, Duoro Superiore Tinto Duoro, Portugal $26
The otherIntense ruby color with a pronounced nose of raspberries and cherries, complemented by floral and spicy undertones. Velvety and dense with plum, dark cherry, blueberry), spice, earth, floral hints, cocoa, and oak. Firm tannins and a long, persistent finish. Grapes = Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Alicante Bouschet and Baga.
Sileo Viticola, Monsant Tinto Montsant, Spain $25
Sourced from old, organically farmed vineyards around Cornudella de Montsant, on poor, stony soils of calcareous clay and schist, at high altitudes. Aromas of cherry, plum, strawberry, and soft notes of Mediterranean herbs In the mouth it shows freshness, medium body, delicate tannins and good acidity, with hints of spices, licorice and herbs; the texture is velvety and the finish is very expressive. 90% Grenache (Garnacha) and 10% Samso (Carignan) aged 8 to 10 months in French oak.
Sindicat, “La Figuera” Tinto Monsant, Spain $25
The 100% Grenache sourced from old vines, aged between 30 and 80 years, planted in La Figuera. A unique village in Montsant at an altitude of 550 meters, which is the highest point in the region. Unoaked, zippy, dry. focused, and delicate with aromas of pomegranate, red currant, raspberry, and a background of peppery spice and wild herbs. The palate is savory, mid-weight, and graceful, combining umami-tinged baked plum, strawberry, orange oil, peppercorn, tobacco, sage, and leather, with fine tannins and a clean, lively finish.
