Chapotier, “Marius” Viognier Languedoc - Roussillon, France $19
Marius is a dry, fresh, clean, persistent, moderately unctuous Viognier from South France with soft acidity and medium body. This classic Viognier provides melon, lemon, apricot, jasmine, honeysuckle, stone, flavors with notes of tropical fruit. Viognier aged in stainless steel tanks on fine lees. A great patio pounder.
Pinon, “Tuffo” Vouvray Vouvray, Loire, France $24
Hooray for Vouvray. Always Chenin blanc, but sometimes sweet, sometimes dry, sometimes sparkling! This fine young lady here is still and dry (ish). Originating from the renowned Tuffeau soils of the area, this wine stands out with its distinctive acidity and an alluring, luscious opulence. It showcases a silky, honeyed texture that envelops the palate, accompanied by an exquisite depth of flavor. 100% Chenin Blanc with remarkable concentration. A fantastic food wine. Great for Bbq’s and seafood delights!
Les Sources D’Agape, “Love and Enjoy” Saint Amour Beaujolais Beaujolais, France $28
Gamay is like Pinot Noir’s older Emo sister… A bit more serious, darker attitude, and emotional. And we love her. This is a classic Beaujolais from the northernmost cru of Beaujolais region: Saint Amour. 60 year -old vine- Gamay grow on a sandstone hillside that face the rising sun. This wine is loaded with fresh red fruit aromas. Carbonic maceration gives the wine a vibrant fruitiness (crushed strawberry, bigarreau cherry) enhanced by a few floral notes., fermented in concrete and aged in stainless steel.
Labranche-Laffont, “Tan Nat” Madiran- Languedoc, France $24
Certified organic, vegan, and Sans Soufre (no added sulfur)! But the wine is still awesome!
Christine Dupuy, fresh out of enology school, found herself in charge of the family domaine upon the unexpected death of her father in 1992, becoming the youngest winemaker in Madiran.
At the time, the domaine had 15 acres of vines; today, it has 50 acres, and Christine works them all organically. Her Vin de France TanNat is a wine without any additions, sulfites or otherwise, and is an absolute break from Madiran’s classic profile of Tannat. The Tan-Nat is a rare, restrained expressions of wild blackberries, bright plum, subtle earthy, spice, and lavender whispers!
