Paris Simoneau, “OISO” Sauvignon Blanc Loire Valey, France $20
Oiso is short for oiseau (sounds like wah-zoh) the French word for bird. This wine is grown in the Touraine region of the Loire Valley in France., where storybook castles and gardens are on display. 100% Sauvignon Blanc, from vines over 30 years old. Aged in stainless steel tanks for 3 month on the lees. Bright yellow in color, revealing a nose of citrus fruits and very ripe fruit. Subtle and delicate on the palate.
JL Denois, “Les Garrigues” Blanc Languedoc, France $25
Made from organic grapes, harvested by hand, with very few added sulfites... A blend of Sauvignon, Rolle, Bourboulenc, and Grenache. The color is bright, straw yellow. The nose is ripe and expressive, with apricot, pear, almond, and fennel. The palate is round, ample, with a crisp freshness, blending white fruits with citrus. In short, it's not wildly complex, but it drinks very, very well.
Damien Martin, Bourgogne Blanc Burgundy France $25
Family owned and ran, the Martin estate of comprised of 44 acres in the heart of the Mâconnais region of Burgundy. 100% Chardonnay with well defined citrus and stone fruit aromas, with hints of acacia, honeysuckle, verbena, and fennel. Only 10% sees oak so it is a little racy! Combines vivacity, roundness, fruitiness, and aromatic richness.
Clotte-Cazalis, Bordeaux Blanc Bordeaux, France $27
From the Barzac region in the southern Bordeaux. 95% Sémillon and 5% Sauvignon Blanc. All vines are more than 50 years old. Remarkable balance and freshness of fruit, full bodied, with loads of peach, apricot, and marmalade.
