SPAIN!

At this tasting, we present a diverse array of Spanish wines, each with a distinct character reflective of its region. One white wine from the Txakoli in the Basque Country. 3 reds… A vibrant Tempranillo from Ribera Del Duoro. Then we try a fantastic representation of one of my favorite wine regions - Grenache from Priorat. And finally a blend of old vine Grenache/Tempranillo from the Castilla Y Leon.

Wednesday, JUNE 4TH

2-8 PM

Wine Tasting: $25

Baskoli, Txakoli Hondarrabi Zuri         Txakolina, Spain     $24

100% Hondarrabi Zuri which is a white variety that is native of the Basque Country, Spain. It is the main grape variety used in Txakoli production, known for its aromatic qualities. There's a light, pleasing spritz to this linear white, and well-knit acidity crackles on the palate, layered with notes of white peach, elderflower and lime and pink grapefruit zest.

Bela, Ribera del Duero          Ribera del Duero, Spain     $21

Dark ruby at the center, moving toward shades of crimson toward the rim. Aromas of spiced red plum, blackberry, rose petals, and cracked pepper. The backdrop shows subtle tones of crushed rocks, vanilla pod, dried blueberries, and baking spices like as anise and allspice. Plush and velvety on the palate, with fine-grained tannins yielding a polished structure and finish. 100% Tinta del País (Tempranillo) aged nine months in French oak barrels.

Bodegas Prieto Pariente, “La Provincia”                 Castilla Y Leon, Spain     $33

This wine is made with 55% Tempranillo and 45% Garnacha from old vineyards (1924, 1946, and 1956). Intense cherry color with a violet rim. Aromas of red fruit and black fruit, pleasantly accompanied by hints of forest and undergrowth. The palate is sweet, with a fresh mid-palate and volume. Good acidity and a long finish.

Pasanau, Priorat “Ceps Nous”            Priorat, Spain $25

I drove out to Priorat from Barcelona few years ago because I am in love with their wines. Dark and bold juicy and exciting. Cherry color with purple hues. Bouquet with concentrated aromas of black fruits and balsamic notes. With a couple swirls in the glass, red fruits and vanilla notes develop. The palate is medium to full bodied, well balanced with firm to slightly smooth tannins. The taste is rich without loosing any tension. 100% Grenache aged in French oak barrels.

Time: 2pm - 8pm or until the bottles run dry!
