Here is the Lineup!
Flat Brim, Fortune Teller Blanc, Columbia Gorge $21
This wine is good example of how to handle grapes affected by regional fires.
On the palate blueberries are a pleasant addition to strawberry and blackberry with the usual creaminess, brioche and peppery notes common to this wine year after year.
Winemaker notes, “The Pinot Gris was exposed to smoke in the Columbia Gorge. So we were only able to risk 24 hrs of skin contact before pressing. This decision has the outcome of a lighter, more delicate expression of our popular “Fortune Teller”. The Pinot Meunier was luckily in barrel before the fires started and we were able to ferment whole cluster until dry, bringing a lot of the complexity and fruitiness to the blend. We did make the hard decision to filter this wine at bottling to remove any solids that could contain compounds that could impart smokiness to the wine over time”.
Devison, “L’ Isle Verte” Chenin Blanc, Columbia Valley $24
Wonderful single vineyard Chenin from Yakima. white flower, and leans on peach pits, Rich, and round, med bodied but with zest. Mineraly and clean with o funk. Get the funk’ outa here!
Basel Cellars, Claret, Columbia Valley $21
The vibrant bouquet shows hints of ripe cherry, cedar, perfume and pencil shavings. Ripe red berry fruits integrate well with soft toasty oak on the palate, with smooth tannins and good acidity framing the structure of this Claret.
Guardian,”The Informant” Syrah, Wahluke Slope $34
4% Viognier with 96% Syrah. 19 months on 50% new French oak. The result is a wine that is deep and concentrated in both color and flavor. The nose sets the stage with juicy Bing cherry, crushed rose petals and just a trace of earth and minerality. The mouthfeel is smooth and full-bodied, with a palate featuring rhubarb pie, marionberry jam, black currant, and rich honeycomb through a lengthy finish.
