Close to home… WA Wines!

Picking from our own backyard. Washington has so many great winemakers doing cool things to cool grapes. Here we will taste through a Sauv Blanc, Nebbiolo (rose), Sangiovese, and Merlot! So get those cheeks ready to sample some of the good stuff!

@ Humble Vine

Wednesday, December 8th

4pm-8pm

Only $15

Lobo Hills, Sauvignon Blanc, Yakima Valley $21

The 2020 Sauvignon Blanc lifts with aromas of lemon, yellow grapefruit, kiwi and honey-crisp apples. The mouthfeel is carefully balanced with food-friendly acidity and flavors of grapefruit, chamomile tea and green apples.

Upsidedown, "Rescue Rose", Horse Heaven Hills $23

Who doesn’t like a wine with a purpose! Not only do proceeds from the Rescue Rose go to annually targeted causes, but this wine is awesome! It’s a little unique, as well, since it is a Rose of Nebbiolo. This varietal imparts a different taste when it comes to Roses. This gem has hints of melon, white peach, honey crisp apple, a bit of tang on the finish with almost a chalky quality that leaves your mouth watering for the next sip. All in all, this rose is just fantastic and a great way to send the warm weather out with a bang before we bundle up for the winter.

Procedo, Red Blend, Columbia Valley $25

This table red was crafted as a nod to those “super-Tuscans” who chose to buck tradition and plant varietals not typical for their region. A Northwest expression of classic everyday drinking red blends of Central Italy, a new world Tuscan look alike built for early consumption. Black cherry, brown sugar, spice box, plum on the nose. Boysenberry, cinnamon spice, earthy tobacco leaf, sweet berry on the palate. Great every day with grilled burgers, lasagna, or a wedge of aged pecorino.

Abeja, Merlot, Walla Walla,WA $49

Sexy aromas of dark raspberry, mocha, red licorice, tobacco, minerals, and cocoa nibs reminded me of a Right Bank wine. Plush, ripe, and serious, with dusty herbs and spices enlivening the raspberry and plum fruit flavors; more red fruits than black here. Finishes with substantial but ripe well-integrated tannins and slowly building persistence. Not a powerhouse but uncommonly complex and refined for Washington Merlot.
