Spain!!!

Spain!!

On the Iberian Peninsula: where early Kings of Western Europe were born!  We run all over Northern Spain. From the Rias Baixas on the far west of the Atlantic Ocean, to Priorat which is an hour from Barcelona on the East/Mediterranean coast. All the wines are deep and full bodied. I feel Spain is undervalued and over delivers. Arriba!!! Can’t wait to see you!

Dozoe, Albarino, Rias Baixas $17

A rare opportunity for you all tonight- this wine is actually a part of our wine club and yet YOU get to try and (probably buy it)! One of my favorite grapes Albarino, from the Rias Baixas. With yellow straw color, intense aromas of fruit, white flowers and mineral nuances. Persistent in the mouth and well balanced in acidity maintaining the citric notes. It’s awesome!

Cellar Can Blau, “Blau”, Monsant $14

Blau is named after the blue slate in the region of Montsant! This bejeweled baby is full of wood smoke, spice box, incense, lavender, black cherry and plum aromas are followed by a mouth-filling, round, dense wine with outstanding grip and length. It over-delivers in a big way.

Mas Vilo, Priorat, $28

65% Carignan & 35% Grenache. Claret in color with violet reflections. Aromas of blackberry and nutmeg background. Subtle hints of liquorice, tobacco, roasted aspects and Mediterranean undergrowth. In the mouth it has a fruity, mineral flavor with mature tannins and a long, persistent finish.

Protos 27, Ribera del Duero, $33

What a beauty this wine is!  50% American oak & 50% French oak- it’s really cool to se these flavors combat each other. Currant and blackberry flavors are ripe yet fresh in this plush red. Cocoa, anise and toasty flavors add spicy accents. Well-integrated tannins and bright acidity keep this focused. Generous and graceful. Well yeahhh!
