Blue Mountain, “Gold Label” Brut, British Columbia Canada $29
The Brut Gold Label has a fine mousse, with lemon and toasty character on the nose and across the palate, with a crisp lemon finish. The wine is made in the Method Traditional style.
Buty, Semillon-Sauvignon-Muscadelle White, Columbia Valley Washington $25
The aromas are vibrant, with notes of pineapple and other tropical fruit, along with herb, lemon balm and spice. The palate is light on its feet, bringing a pleasing sense of balance, with a lingering finish.
Upchurch, “LTL” Cabernet Sauvignon, Red Mountain Washington $33
2016 LTL Cabernet Sauvignon shows classic Cabernet aromas of Provence herbs, cassis, brambleberry, cocoa powder, and cracked black pepper. The mid-palette is stacked with rich accessible red and black fruits, bacon, and light oak touches. It is balanced and flavorful with savory tannins and a long ripe hedonistic finish.
Savage Grace, Cabernet Sauvignon “7-Mile Vineyard”, Rattlesnake Hills Washington $28
Great Medium-bodied Cabernet that is great with food. Nice aromas of fruit, cloves, and earth. Clean flavors of blackberries, boysenberries and light vanilla. Good acidity and light tannins with a long finish.
Savage Grace, Cabernet Franc “Copeland Vineyard”, Rattlesnake Hills Washington $31
This is a one-of-a-kind wine in Washington, released just over six months after harvest at an alcohol level unheard of for red wines (or typically even whites) in the state. Fermented 20% whole cluster and aged for four months in neutral oak, the aromas are pure, bright and fruit filled, with notes of raspberry, ash, cherry and flower. The palate is lighter styled, showing elegance and purity, with light smoky notes on the finish.
