France and Beyond
French wines and grapes have had quite the reach in our modern world. It seems every wine making nation on our sphere has borrowed from the palate of the French. This tasting will offer some unique regions in France and a few grapes that have made an impact here in USA. All these wines have never been seen in Humble Vine before. Get in here and be in the know.

Chateau Mauny, Cremant de Loire, Brut $17
Sparkling Chenin from Anjou in the Loire. Beautiful light-yellow color. Nose of yellow flesh fruit such as peach. Round and gourmet mouth. Nice volume on the palate and good persistence. Great finesse of the bubbles. The fruit is sourced from sustainably grown vineyards, but don’t hold that against it.
Domaine des Guidoirs, Muscadet Sevre & Maine $12
Musadet is a wine from Pays Nantais, France. Not the name of a region…. Not a grape… Or a city… That is a rarity in France. The white grapes are grown near the Atlantic Ocean, so I always look for the soft salinity usually found. Always dry and crisp and often underpriced. The perfect wine to cook with. A little for the food, a little for me. Sharing is fun.
Gard, “Freya” Rhone Inspired White $21 (Washington)
The Southern Rhone Valley of France is warm and stony. Just like Washington! Many producers in Washington look to South Rhone for a muse. Bright notes of lemon/lime, white peach, lychee and white flowers. A touch of spice, similar to citrus zest adds complexity. A swirl in the glass adds a light sweetness to the fruit and a touch of pretentiousness .- )
Fat Louis, Duck Down, St Chinian Red $14
No Mallards were harmed in the production of this wine…I think. St Chinian is one of the 4 crown jewels in Languedoc-Roussillon. Commonly blended. This one is 40% Syrah, 30% Grenache and 30% Carignan. Full aromas, flush with hints of black berries, olive tapenade, and roasted coffee beans.
Haden Fig, Pinot Noir (Oregon) $21
Organic, dry-farmed grapes. Cool, late-ripening fruit from this low-yield vineyard contributes to the structure of Haden Fig’s signature Willamette Valley Pinot Noir blend. As well as their own organic Cancilla Vineyard designate. Very fruit driven with dense black cherry, creamy raspberry, a bright red cherry skin finish and perfect acidity. Well dang.
