Wine Tasting: BBQ’S! Not just for meat.

BBQ’S! Not just for meat.

Throw another Kebob on the Barbee, Mate’. Because June is starting and it’s fun to cook outdoors because you are not heating up the kitchen…There is a slight breeze on your cheeks, and hearing the sizzle of the veggies hit the grill? And that smell…Mmm… No better way to prepare Corn, Zucchini, Asparagus, Bell Peppers, or Mushroom Caps. Grill marks and char… Yay BBQ’S! Now for the perfect beverage to match?! Come find a home for one (or two) of these delicious wines. All bursting with big flavors and structure that are complementary to the smoke and heat of the grill….

@ Humble Vine Saturday, June 1st.  4pm

Hecht and Bernier, Langedoc Blanc, France $14

The Picpoul Blanc brings a crunchy and vivid character, which, blended with the Roussanne citrus fruits and white flowers notes, perfectlys completes the wine's aromatic character and and gives a delightful volume on the palate.

Francesco Brigatti, “Mottobello” Bianco, Italy $18

Crisp and refreshing— this dry white from Italy’s upper-Piedmont region is fairly obscure, but it is the perfect dry white to usher us into Spring. Lots of herbs and verdant notes, with citrus and a mouthwatering finish. Asparagus risotto is calling its name. All organically farmed and fermented with indigenous yeasts.

Bastide Miraflors, Roussillon Rouge, France $16

This wine is almost too good to be true. A blend of 70% Syrah and 30% Grenache that was brought up in concrete tank. One of the most advanced wineries in the region, Jean-Marc and his wife Elaine are crafting "must buy" wines from the region of Roussillon. The Bastide Miraflors is a blend of Syrah and old-vine Grenache. The vineyards for this wine are practicing organic with an average vine age of 55 years.

Lapastolle, “Le Rouge”, Chile $21

90 POINTS Ripe, oaky berry aromas are minty and suggest coffee, spice and herb. A flush palate is lush but sort of chunky and broad despite screechy acidity. Black fruit flavors are chocolaty, while this blend of Syrah, Carmenère, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Scuola Grande, Amarone Della Valpolicella, Italy $39

Deep, dark, intense, with pleasant slight granite shades. A sequence of perceptions of cherry, plum, and black cherries under liquor and toasted almond; interesting final notes of coffee, tobacco and cocoa. Powerful, warm, spacious, wrapping, light tannic sensation, persistent, long pleasant finish. Combines well with game and grilled red meats as well as with long seasoned aged hard cheese. Perfect for BBQ’s alone so you do not have to share!
