La Spinetta
We are showing off a special Italian house. This is a winery I hung out with in Italy last month. La Spinetta started in Piedmont Italy, where they made the first “single vineyard” Moscato D’Asti, among other amazing piedmont wines. They have also bought vines in Tuscany, where they use their masterful skill to make Sangiovese based wines. Come and fill the cellar with these fantastic wines!!

Contratto , Brut “Millesimato Pas Dosé”, Piedmont $35
Millesimato Pas Dosé ages on the yeasts for five years! Riddling is done by hand! The mouthfeel is beautifully creamy and rich with abundant apricot, honey and sweet almonds. Offers a palate of beautifully bright and vibrant, fresh fruit that is incredibly refreshing; with notes of white fruit, candied almonds and green apples. 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay, the Brut Millesimato is very dry.
Rose, Tuscany $22
Year after year, this Provence-inspired pink from Tuscany continues to impress us with its delicacy, elegance and world-class taste! Cherry blossom and orange peel flavors combine with notes of acacia flower, strawberry and spice.
Vermentino, Tuscany $23
A minerally-tinged and orchard fruit rich white wine, the new vintage of La Spinetta's Tuscany Vermentino is a real winner! Seamless from beginning to end with its' lush yet light fruit flavors enhanced by a firm streak of acidity.
“Ca Di Pian” Barbera D’Asti, Piedmont $27
The first red from Spinetta. I came home from Italy and put this wine on my shelf immediately. La Spinetta's deft touch with Piedmont varietals is apparent here: full body with bright acidity and lots of intensity but balanced and silky-textured, an ultra-fine Barbera that combines richness with finesse.
Langhe Nebbiolo, Piedmont $39
Easily as good as many a Barbaresco, this Nebbiolo is seductive upon entry with licorice, cherry and rose petal nuances. The tannins kick in towards the long, powerful finish. Sweet tobacco, herb, mint, licorice, anise and dried flowers help shape this soft, open-knit Nebbiolo.
