Cru Selections
We think of Easter dinner with this wine tasting. Corey from Cru selections will be back with a slice of his amazing portfolio. To start the evening, we try a rose from the south of France. Then a set of amazing Oregon wines…a dry Riesling and a WHITE Pinot Noir!!! You have to try it to believe it. For the reds we have a crazy blend from Washington, a Barbera from Italy, and a high-class Spanish Rioja. Real cool wines, real cool info, real cool guests…if you show up!! So, we will see you tomorrow!!
@ Humble Vine, Saturday April 20th 4pm.
Pool Toy, Rose, Provence France $13
A classic taste from this French rose. Very dry, crisp, and refreshing. Light medium-bodied, with notes of strawberry and raspberry. Pair with light foods, salads, spicy foods, drink solo, or in the pool! You have to see this delicious Provencal Grenache/Syrah to believe it!!
Amity, Dry Riesling, Willamette Oregon $21
Grown from vines planted in 1971 at Amity Vineyard, it shows off honeysuckle, peach, and almond notes. The color of this young wine is day bright and shiny. Open this wine and chug…. But wait! This wine explodes into full glory 24 hours after first being opened. It begins with layers of dried apricots, apples Meyer lemon, grapefruit, and a hint of ginger. A long crisp finish.
Amity White Pinot Noir, Willamette Oregon $21
WHOA!!! A white wine made from a red grape; the color barely hints at a tawny straw shade. Produced from mature vines, this wine has intense lemon custard, pineapple, and melon notes. While a nuance of pear, honeydew, and golden raspberry coat the palate. Meow!!!
Christopher Michael, Red Blend, Columbia Valley Washington $14
In the mouth, this wine shows concentration and weight. Flavors of cherry cola, plums, cinnamon, and dark chocolate coat the mouth as the tannins take hold and add dimension and structure to the wine. This wine shows good balance in the long finish. A Crazy blend of 54% Syrah, 20% Barbera, 10% Cabernet Franc, 9% Petit Verdot, 4% Malbec, 3% Grenache!
Cantina de Pio, Barbera D’Alba, Alba Italy $25
Perfect for Easter dinner. Barbera d-Alba is a wonderfully fragrant offering with notes of crushed flowers, spices and raspberries framed by refined, silky tannins. In this vintage it is a smaller-scaled wine than is usually the case, yet this Barbera offers plenty of enjoyment in an elegant, restrained style
Lopez de Heredia, Cubillo Rioja, Rioja Spain $28
Cubillo is Lopez’s answer to Rioja Crianza. Following the style of all their wines, this wine could be labeled a class above - as a Reserva - but they keep it a Crianza. It compares to most other Rioja wineries’ Reservas’ since the wine is aged for three years in oak, followed by another two to three years in bottle. The resulting wine is fruit-forward but with very developed, older-wine aromas of cherries and spices. Outstanding Rioja for the price, and one of the best winemakers in all of Rioja!! Ham and Rioja… Perfect.
