Beaujolais Party

GAMAY DAY!!

Celebrating Beaujolais Nouveau and Gamay

Every year, on the third Thursday of November, Beaujolais Nouveau is released to the world: a simple, easy-drinking red wine made from the Gamay grape in (you guessed it!) Beaujolais, France. There are many opinions on Beaujolais Nouveau. (They range from “meh” to “gauche!” to “non non non”) Our opinion is: life is short, good times are few, and as long as the wine is made with a little care and not much else, who cares! ALSO: a great excuse for a party, non?
On Friday, November 21 we’re throwing a GAMAY/ BEAUJOLAIS PARTY. There’ll be various Gamay from a few different regions. Of course, we will have the star of the day - Beaujolais Nouveau. Also, a special bottling of Pinot Noir Nouveau from Oregon!!! I am EXCITED.

COST: $10 @ the door

PLACE: @ Humble Vine,

TODAY: Friday November 22nd

TIME: 5PM till the Bottles Run Dry!!

Vignoble Bulliat, Beaujolais Nouveau “Elf Socks” 2019!   $17

Here it is!!! Our Favorite Beaujolais Nouveau. The first pressing of this year’s harvest. These wines are ALWAYS the grape Gamay. Meant to be a celebration of season changing, harvest complete, a job well done, mother nature, and life as a community. Clipped, fermented and bottled only a few days ago! A simple wine. Elf Socks (no one calls it that but us), is dark and fruity compared to some of its challengers. Dry with cranberry zest and purple flowers. Get into the fresh.

Lingot Martin, Bugey-Cerdon Sparkling Gamay Rose, $19

An ancestral method, sparkling, Brut version of this Gamay Grape! Haha what a nerd wine. It is also delicious with fresh cranberry skin style acids. Mouthwatering and a perfect companion to the dinner table.

Colin Perle Rouge, Black Sparkling Gamay, Loire Valley $23

Now for something completely different. I love this wine. It is deep red, dry as a bone and sparkling! The wine is made in the method ancestral, or "pet-nat". The wine is fresh and fun, with aromas ranging from, dried flowers to dried cranberry and strawberry. In the mouth there is plenty of crunchy, crisp red cherry fruit.

Domaine De Thulon, Beaujolais-Villages, 2018 $15

With an intense, purplish-ruby color, this Beaujolais is packed with delicious aromas of cherry and strawberry that explode from the glass. Fresh and fruity, with just a slight hint of Allspice, this is a well-structured, delightful red. Try it slightly chilled to bring out more delicate fresh fruit flavors.

La Madone, Gamay sur Volcan, Cotes de Forez $ 19

A deliciously fruity Gamay from volcanic soils. Round with plenty of depth and length of flavor, 2018 was a top vintage and this offers superb, black cherry-like fruit. Just West of Beaujolais proper, the Cotes du Forez is filled with mountain fruit with a pinch of bramble with ripe tones.

Johan Vineyards,  Pinot Noir Nouveau, Willamette Oregon 2019!  $24

This is an AMAZING producer with an American style of Nouveau for 2019. Fresh wine bottled days ago from the grape Pinot Noir!!! Nouveau is a celebration of the new vintage, bottled fresh at the tail end of fermentation for immediate enjoyment. Pinot Nouveau est arrivé!
