Wine Tasting, Puddle Jumpers

PUDDLE JUMPING

You might have to take a bike, a bus, or a puddle jumper to find some these diamonds in the rough. We will explore a few places that don’t see as much traffic as some other wine regions. Like…Orvieto, Castillon, Barrossa, and Chateanuef du Pape. We will taste some far-out grapes like…Roussanne and Blaufranken (Lemburger). So… get your journals and passports out and lets journey into a few of the “never heard of it” areas of the wine world. Trevor, from Unique Wines, will be guest pouring and droppin' the knowledge!! Saturday @Humble Vine - 4 till 8.

DECUGNANO DEI BARBI, “VILLA BARBI” ORVIETO CLASSICO, UMBRIA ITALY, 2015 $18

Orvieto is a little town in Umbria in some rock cliffs…gorgeous. It has a DOC status and is a delicious blend. This one opens with delicate scents of white spring flower, yellow apples, and a pinch of pineapple. The bright palate doles out creamy white peach, juicy grapefruit, nectarine zest and mineral alongside crisp acidity. It closes clean and refreshing.

50% Grechetto, 20% Sauvignon Blanc, 20% Vermentino and 10% Procanico!

ISENHOWER CELLARS, ROUSSANNE, YAKIMA WA, 2016 $22

The Barrel Fermented Roussanne has a yellow green hue. It is lively and balanced with bright and fresh aromas of mango and plantain, with hints of cardamom and nutmeg. There is weight in the mid-palate and a long finish with tingling acidity, which interplays well with the tropical flavors. Roussane is making big waves in Washington vineyards…

CHATEAU DE PITRAY, BORDEAUX FRANCE, 2014 $18

Pitray is located on 'the plateau' of one of the leading properties in the Côtes de Castillon, right bank (merlot based). Château de Pitray, the appellation’s premier estate, produces a deliciously smooth, round and generous wine that delivers gratification. Beautiful garnet-red robe with aromas of cassis fruits coupled with subtle vanilla tones.

SHOOTING STAR, COTES DE COLUMBIA - BLAUFRANKISH, 2014 $15

Shooting Star winemaker Jed Steele is a former Gonzaga basketball star and loves working with fruit from the Horse Heaven Hills. He has made name for working with Blaufrankish (Limburger) a grape that produces wines with soft tannins and perfect for summertime sipping. Clean, crisp, and unpretentious with tons of fruit, think warm berry pie. Hints of pepper, almond and cinnamon linger on the smooth finish.

TAIT, THE BALL BUSTER, BAROSSA VALLEY AUSTRALIA, 2014 $21

Bold, with dense notes of dark chocolate-covered coffee bean, plum paste, wild blackberry, cigar box and raisin bread. Expressive and generous. The velvety tannins linger.

78% Shiraz, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Merlot.

COMTE DE LAUZE, CHATEANEUF DU PAPE, S. RHONE FRANCE, 2015 $39

Offering up a rich, full bouquet of black cherries. pepper, plenty of sage and sappy flowers, this full-bodied wine has excellent acidity, a pure focused texture, and chewy tannin. It needs air to show its best, so decant if drinking anytime soon.
