Wine Tasting. Portugal

Come to enjoy a few selections that will please the taste buds.  Start with a Willamette “kitchen sink “white blend, and a wonderful Vinho Verde. Both have a little bubble and a lot of fruit. I thought it would be fun to compare the two. Next, we compare two Portuguese reds, both a blend of a few national grapes, but apart in style.

Anne Amie Cuve Amrita 2015

The name Amrita comes from the Buddhist equivalent of ambrosia, or a wine of the gods. Amrita is a unique inspiration each harvest, crafted from different varieties to be an irresistible, lightly effervescent, fruit-forward wine. It makes a delightful aperitif and is our favorite match with Pan-Asian foods.

Avaleda, Vinho Verde, 2016

Straw pale color, a complex flowery aroma, with accents of peaches and tropical fruits. On the palate, this wine presents a very fresh soft and silky elegancy, revealing hints of spicy citrine flavors.

Quinta De Cabriz, Dao Red Blend, 2014

A crisp and minerally red, with concentrated flavors of dark cherry, roasted plum and dried raspberry, layered with rich, spicy notes. White chocolate details show on the finish, accented by hints of pepper.

Bergamota, Dao Red Blend, 2014

Medium-bodied, flavorsome and lovable red with a gorgeously-warm, dusty texture and tons of tasty flavors of blackberries, cocoa, cinnamon and vanilla. Beautiful stuff.
