Division, ‘Ouest' White Columbia Valley, Washington $22
Although Division started in Portland, Ouest (french for West) wines are grown in organic and sustainably farmed vineyards across the Columbia Valley in Washington! This wonderful wine is a blend of Albariño, Grenache Blanc, Chenin Blanc, and Sauvignon Blanc, fermented with native yeasts and minimal intervention. Crisp and medium bodied, with citrus zest, green apple, white peach, and a stony minerality.
Kerloo Cellars, ‘Celilo’ Chardonnay Columbia Valley, Washington $39
First planted in 1957 Celilo Vineyard is one of the oldest in Washington and is prized for its complex, well-drained soils and ideal Chardonnay terroir. 100% Chard, coming from a single block of this esteemed vineyard. Fermented and aged in a mix of stainless steel and neutral oak, with some batonnage (lees stirring) to add texture and depth. Ripe pear, white peach, and lemon curd, with subtle hints of vanilla, caramel, toasted almond, and a bright, mineral finish.
Saviah, Cabernet Franc Walla Walla, Washington $33
Saviah Cellars was founded in 2000 by Richard and Anita Funk in the heart of the Walla Walla. This is a fantastic 100% Cabernet Franc aged 17 months in French oak barrels. 20% New. On the palate, notes of pomegranate, cranberry and cherry bring energy and lift, while sage and warm earth add depth. The tannins are firm yet supple. Touches of spice and espresso lead to a long, graceful finish notes of cocoa and touch of sweet herb.
Andrew Januik, “Stone Cairn” Cab Sauvignon Red Mt., Washington $49
Andrew Januik is a second-generation Washington winemaker and the son of renowned winemaker Mike Januik. 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, 55% New French, 20 months. A deeply violet wine that overflows with raspberry, cassis, and cocoa notes. It is textured with many layers showing flavors that range from all-spice to dark fruit. The finish is long and brimming with the bright acidity and supple tannins.
