Guillaume, Chardonnay Franche Comté, France $20
The Franche Comté is tucked neatly between Burgundy, Alsace, and Savoie. Their main claim to fame is their nursery. While Phylloxera rampaged through the vineyards of Europe, the Guillaume family saved vines from across Europe and keep them alive in their nursery until the solution for the pest was found. This Burgundy inspired Chard has a cheerfully fresh nose of lemon curd and buttercream with touches of limestone and toasted vanilla. It leads to a satisfying and citrus-lined finish.
