French Rouge
YESS!! All French reds! A wide spectrum of flavors, grapes, and regions!… We will start on the lighter side and move into the inky depths. First: a rad Pinot Noir from Burgundy, then onto a chuggable Cabernet Franc outa’ the Loire Valley. Then getting darker with a bodacious blend from Bordeaux (cute pic above), then to a dark Cab/Syrah blend from the Sud Ouest (South West)!

Michel Magnien, Coteaux Bourguignons Burgundy, France $28
A fantastic, nerdy, Pinot Noir from Burgundy. The Magnien family has been known for crafting amazing Burgundy for over 30 years, but doing things out of the normal scope of practices. The estate has significant holdings in prestigious appellations, especially within the Côte de Nuits, with an average vine age of 50 years! For 10 years they have been certified biodynamic! The estate has transitioned to aging with no new oak. Grapes are hand-harvested, partially destemmed, and fermented spontaneously using indigenous yeasts; aging is done primarily using clay jars to preserve fruit and terroir, with no fining or filtration. But, its still delicious!
Dom la Pins, Landry and Fils, Bourgueil Loire Valley France $21
Pins & Landry have crafted wines with their sons to craft this family run business. They work with 100% Cab Franc from Bourgueil in the Loire Valley. The vineyards of Bourgueil are planted on a Tuffeau (a type of limestone), gravel and sand plateau along the banks of the Loire river. The wine has big berry notes, But the lead, is a wild, floral, lilac-ness, that has an attack that is typical of Cab Franc from the Loire Valley.
Dom Mas de Bressades, Les Vignes de Mon Pere Gard, France $23
The name, meaning "The Father's Vines," refers to the estate's first vines, planted by the owner Cyril Marès' father in the 1970s, making it a historically significant bottling for the domaine. Mainly crafted from Cabernet Sauvignon with inky south west Syrah. Dense, full-bodied, and structured, with firm tannins and a juicy, mouth-watering character. Black fruits, plum, blackberry, tobacco, spice, and cocoa. A long, elegant finish, often enhanced by its aging in oak for at least 12 months.
Château Moncets, Lalande de Pomerol Bordeaux, France $30
The land has been a documented winery since before 1770! It bears the name of General de Moncets, who acquired it in 1872. The topography of the Moncets vineyard is distinguished by its location on three hills, each facing east, west, and south, respectively. This geographical configuration highlights a remarkable diversity of microclimates and unique terroirs, allowing us to carry out highly detailed plot selection. A classic blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon provides a ruby color, a powerful nose with notes of violets, cherries, and raspberries. A luscious palate with red fruits and spicy notes, structured by an elegant tannic backbone.
