A white wine that reveals to the nose intense and decisive aromas, notes of citrus and hints of apricot and peach. On the palate it is round and pleasant, well balanced with a persistent finish.
Giuliana Vicini Trebbiano d’Abruzzo $21
A lovely fresh white - ideal with seafood or pork dishes and wonderful on its own.
Giuliana Vicini was born in 1925 to a patriarchal family, at a time when young ladies were a bit of a burden for their families, who had to marry them into good families and have a dowry. At 95 years old, Giuliana left her granddaughter, Chiara Ciavolich, her vineyards. She did it on one condition, which was that the wine produced was not called Ciavolich but Vicini - after her grandmother Donna Ernestina Vicini. Sustainable - Family Owned
Pasqua Passimento Rosso, Veneto $19
The wines take their name from the Romeo and Juliet balcony in Verona and the walls outside it that are constantly scribbled with messages from visitors. This red blend is comprised of 40% Merlot, 30% Corvina and 30% Croatina. The grapes are picked by hand and left to dry in wooden crates in the drying loft. There, by means of humidity control and air circulation, the grapes lose around 30% of their water content and achieve a high sugar concentration. The Merlot is dried for 1 month, the Corvina for 3 months (because it has bigger berries) and the Croatina is not dried.
La Spinetta 'Il Nero di Casanova' Sangiovese Terre di Pisa, Tuscany $22
Intense ruby red in color with intense cherry and spicy mint characteristics on the nose. Densely rich on the palate, this magnificently structured Sangiovese is rounded with a good grip and fine finish.
