Vive La France!!
Bonjour!! Welcome to a tasting of wines from France! Taking a little trip for your taste’s buds, drinking a variety of grapes from the La République. Starting with a rosé bubbly that will make you want to celebrate, then moving on towards two red blends from regions close in proximity-Roussillon and the Languedoc, these wines are made with similar grapes yet diverse flavors! Lastly, we head to our final destination on the Left Bank of Boreaux, The Haut-Medoc.
Prendre plaisir (enjoy) and Bon Voyage!

Montand, Brut Rose, France $15
Francois Montand Brut Rose is salmon pink with a purple tinge. The bouquet is intense and fine, evoking dried cherries and raspberries. Crisp and dry, with a lot of great bubbles, round the palate. The wine finishes clean with a pleasant, sharpness and aromas of red berries.
Domaine Cabirau, Red Blend, Roussillon $19
This Cotes Du Roussillon is out of this world!! 50% Grenache 30% Carignan 20% Syrah. The backbone of the Syrah and Carignan ally perfectly with the opulent Grenache, giving a medium-bodied wine of intense black fruit flavors, redolent of mountain herbs. It’s ripe, sexy, and voluptuous on the palate, with terrific purity.
Corbieres, Red Blend, Languedoc $17
Now moving to the Languedoc region where we have another fantastic blend of Syrah, Carignan, Grenache with a beautiful deep purple robe! The nose is expressive, marked by spicy and roasted notes, then revealing aromas of vanilla and very ripe red fruits. The mouth, both powerful and balanced, has a beautiful aromatic persistence. A great match for roast meats and stews.
Chateau Semonlon, Merlot/Cab, Haut Medoc $22
Raspberries and plums are the main notes here on the palate- and it is DELICIOUS! We end our night on a true winner here from the Bordeaux region of France. This has lovely soft Merlot fruit with ripe tannins and a richness from the Cabernet that gives us an elegant and soft yet wonderful juicy character. ‘De Rien (you’re welcome)!
Sung in the tune of “Oh My Darling”
