Super Bowl Tasting: "The Champs"

THE CHAMPS

Just in time for the Big Game we are going to show off our Champs... These wines are my favorites. For Value, Flavor, background, or just a great crowd pleaser. These wines have been ingrained into my psyche and are about to become your favorite wines (if they aren’t already.)

Our Champion Prosecco from Italy, a perfect way to start the game, a pinch of lemon zest.

First quarter is Queen Bee Anne Amie Pinot Gris. Gorgeous honeysuckle and white pepper.

Second quarter is Upsidedown “Rescue” Rose. One of the only Nebbiolo Rose’s in the state and one of the best and kindest wines!

Third Quarter is Haden Fig Pinot Noir. A pinot that is dry, dark, and lush…

And to Finish the Game we offer Upsidedown, Method Red. A blend of Washington grapes that change every vintage. The winemaker is AMAZING. Thanks Seth!!

Borgo Alato, Prosecco, Italy $12

Our most popular “house” bubble. Dry with hints of lemon zest. Has a pale light-yellow color, delicate and complex bouquet with fruity notes reminiscent of peach and green apple. There are also good secondary notes of flowers like Acacia and Lilac. Good

Anne Amie, Pinot Gris, Oregon, $19

Anne Amie Pinot Gris is an elegant expression of this versatile varietal. Intensely aromatic powdery floral notes give way to a palate of Asian pear, Meyer lemon and rose petal. Balanced and crisp, this wine is a great match for many dishes. Mmmm…

Upsidedown, Rescue Rose, Washington $24

Seth, the kind winemaker, gives a percentage of the profits to Animal shelters. Aww… This rose is Nebbiolo sourced from the Horse Heaven Hills. This wine begins with aromatics of strawberry, guava, red cherry, and white peach. There are flavors of strawberry, red cherry, nectarine and starfruit. You know, just an award winning, palate pleasing, bomb rose….

Haden Fig, Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley Oregon $22

Organic, dry-farmed grapes. Cool, late-ripening fruit from this low-yield vineyard contributes to the structure of Haden Fig’s signature Willamette Valley Pinot Noir blend. As well as their own organic Cancilla Vineyard designate. Very fruit driven with dense black cherry, creamy raspberry, a bright red cherry skin finish and perfect acidity. Well dang.

Upsidedown Method Red, Washington $29

2016 was great for Bordeaux varietals and Cabernet takes the spotlight in this
blend, providing a dark backbone to the wine. Nebbiolo is grown at 1100 feet and provides lifted aromatic complexity and acidity to an otherwise dark rich wine. These three varietals retained their acidity well in Washington creating a unique style blend is layered with complexity on the palate and in the glass.
