Hello Summer
We lean on doorways and look at the mowed lawns. Dogs are panting more and finding the cold kitchen tiles are a bit more comfortable than the window seat. As the stores run out of fans, and we spit our cherry pits into cups, we soak up the seasonal waves of thermal bliss. Hello Summer. The solstice changes with our palates and we start to crave light and fresh wines. Cool and refreshing wines. Here is the list of banging wines to blast off our summer!!
Come and try them @ Humble Vine,
Wednesday June 26th, 4pm
Domaine la Graveirette, Ju De Vie Rose $13
Brand new from Awesome wine maker Julien Mus, comes “Ju de Vie” in the pink! The first vintage of this 100% Syrah is rich fruit foreword and straight delish. Dry but with red raspberries, and …bubble gum? Full bodied. And richly salmon colored from all that inky Syrah.
Jackalope, Voyager Viognier $22
50% sourced from Underwood Mountain Vineyard in the Columbia Gorge (aged in neutral French oak) and 50% Sourced from Serenade Vineyard in the Rogue Valley (fermented and aged in stainless steel). Minerality! Spring blossoms! Gobs of citrus! Not your thick and heavy Viognier, this is a lively and crisp expression of the grape
Notre Dame de Laval, Red Blend, France $10
The wine begins with a nose combining brambly raspberry and blackberry fruit with wonderful earthy/gamey/wild Carignan notes and black-olive subtleties from the Syrah. The fruit extract on the palate is just fantastic for a $10 wine. In its inky, palate-staining character, it acts very much texturally like wines that cost two or three times as much.
Dom. La Graveirette, Ju De Vie, France $14
This is not, just another declassified Chateauneuf du Pape from the wrong side of the fence – this is a wine that stands on its own merit, proudly, as vin de table. A complex yet easy drinking wine, that focuses on the fruits, aged for a year in stainless steel and concrete, the tannins are subtle and balanced to allow the wine to show is lighter notes alongside a velvety texture that makes this such a pleasing wine
Casa Lapostolle, Le Rouge $21
Brilliant red purple color. Red fruit aromas such as cranberries with notes of sweet spices and black pepper. Aromas of chocolate and tobacco. Elegant and balanced tannins very well integrated with bitter chocolate and coffee notes in aftertaste
