Wine Tasting: Petit Monde SXSW

SXSW…FRANCE!

Featuring wines from Petit Monde!

Welcome back Megan from Petit Monde to explain how awesome these wines are. We will visit the Southwest of France.  We will run through a sparkler, a blanc, two red blends, and a sweet dessert style wine. Much of the practices are organic spirited If not downright biodynamical. They use very little to no sulfites, no artificial pesticides, and no oaking where it is not needed. Kind of a stay out of mother nature’s way kind of philosophy. Which promotes a healthier wine. So, come and let us show you the world of SXSW, France.

@ Humble Vine, Wednesday Jan 30th. 4pm till 8

JL Denois, Traditional Extra Brut $ 22

The Pinot brings a great structure. Fine and regular bubble, golden bright color with ruby hints, fresh in the nose, rose and red apple. In the mouth, generous and harmoniously well structured, roundness, fruitiness, freshness, lemon and exotic fruit, salty final note.

Domaine Des Pentes De Berene, Tursan $17

Opening with a deep green-glinted lemon-gold color, the Pentes de Barene casts aromas of pear skin, star fruit, sunflowers, and lemongrass. Full and satisfying on the palate, suggestions of pink grapefruit and Mirabelle plums are infused in the wine’s resinous texture. Rich and ample, the Tursan finishes clean and focused as fleshy pear and apricot fruit mingle with suggestions of ginger and beeswax, all lifted and brightened by a salty mineral undercurrent.

Domaine Olivier Pithon, Mon P'tit Pithon, Cotes Catalanes, $17

Spicy fruit. Quite ripe, rounded, supple palate. Great freshness. Young vines bought in 2008 established on the mosaic of terroirs of the estate. A wine of pleasure, a wine of thirst, a wine of friends: fruit, roundness, freshness. Named after his child. Awww. My Little Pithon!

Domaine de Brin, Vendemia, $16

Very Organic, sulfur free Wine. A rare blend of Merlot and Duras! Earthy, smoky, peppery characteristics in spades.  If you're a fan of Rhone-style Syrah, that are heavy on the black pepper this is right up your alley.

Domaine Labranche Laffont, Pacherene Doux, $23

Sweet seduction.  How not to be drawn to her beautiful golden dress, so engaging. On the nose, honey aromas subtly mingle with yellow fruits, especially peach and quince. The palate is balanced, delicate, the sugars are wonderfully well supported by the natural acidity of the small manseng. Pretty lingering finish for this wine that will age gracefully
