Wine Tasting: Spain!!

SPAIN

Spain is full of really delicious wines. Come in to try a line-up of Top-shelf wines from the Rioja, Aragon, and Priorat, all in the Northern half of Spain.  Big, Dark, Juicy in the Priorat and Grenache based wines. Wines from the Rioja and made with Tempranillo, have a big green edge with a brace of oak. Most these wines have been given point ratings in the 90’s. A good day with big ripping wines!! Try them out on Wednesday February 29th, 4pm-8pm.

Celler de Capcanes, Mas Collet Seleccio, 2015 $19

Medium deep red with flecks of violet; ripe cherry flavors; blueberries; smooth well integrated oaky, toasty aromas; medium bodied; fruit driven; fine ripe sweetness; good acidity; perfectly balanced; round ripe tannins; long ripe fruit finish

40% Grenache/40% Cabernet Sauvignon/20% Samsó (cariñena) 91pts. Wine & Spirits

Bodegas Monteabellon, 14 Meses en Barrica, Tempranillo 2013 $25

A malty earthy woody nose with berry, vanilla and tobacco aromas is complete and generous. This is a bit tight, but that bodes well for the future. Flavors of marzipan, vanilla, coconut, mocha, black plum and raisin finish with depth and length.

CVNE, Cune Gran Reserva, 2010 $34

Traditional character, with leafy, dried herb, tea and spice notes framing dried cherry, licorice and leather flavors. Firm tannins and balsamic acidity impart structure, and this shows plenty of depth, with a juicy, spicy finish.

94 Wine Spectator, #22 in Top 100 Wine Spectator

Clos Figueras, Serras del Priorat, 2014 $30

Black wine of intense color with a blue border, clean and bright. Primary aromas of red fruit and subtle floral touches. Minerality notes with vanilla memories. Fresh and wide mouthfeel, long finish, mineral and fruity aftertaste with slight hints of rosemary and lavender.

55% Garnacha/20% Cariñena /15% Syrah/10% Cabernet Sauvignon. 94 Wine & Spirits

Bodegas Aragonesas, Fagus Red, Grenache 2014 $25

Ruby with purple highlights. Predominant aromas of candied fruit and berry fruit jam on the nose fuse with toast and vanilla nuances. A savory, toast-infused wine on the palate with a lingering fruit sensation. Very enjoyable.
