WIne Tasting Italy

Italy

We will jump around Italy to taste some of my favorite wines. First to the island of Sicily, where we will discover a ripe blend. We jump all the way north to the Langhe region of Piedmont with a mouthwatering Arneis. Then due east for our Schiava out of Alto Adige, which borders Austria, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein! Finally, we drive an hour south to the Lake Garda and find Bardolino, with a brisk cherry filled red. All these wines are bright, medium bodied, and delicious. Join us on Saturday to discover these cool wines!

Cristo de Campabelo, Terre Siciliani Bianco, 2013 $15

A very affordable Sicilian white based on Chardonnay, Insolia, Grillo and Catarretto. Pale green to straw color. Yellow, green apple and citrus on the nose. A zingy and juicy palate with good acidity and tropical notes in the finish.

Elvio Tintero, Langhe Arneis, 2015 $12

Soft, juicy, ripe pears and limestone minerals draw you in from the first sniff. Great aromatics, a seductive mid-palate, and a lively finish that lingers on, and on

Elena Walch, Schiava Red, 2012 $16

This refreshing, light-bodied wine from northern Italy, made with the native Schiava grape, is loaded with bright red cherry, strawberry and white almond sensations. Thanks to soft acidity and supple tannins, it's an ideal wine to serve chilled and sip as an aperitif or pair with seafood.

Corte Gardoni, Bardolino "Pradica" 2012 $18

Light violet color with little rim variation from age. Nose of blackberries, plums and purple wildflowers. Quite aromatic and feminine. Flavors of cherries, hibiscus, and strawberries. Nice mouth watering acid. Clean finish.
