Join us Wednesday the 11th for fun in Italy. Let's taste wines from the base of the Alps to the shores of the mediterranean. We will try some interesting blends and some Classic Italian Flavors…Prosecco, Pinot Grigio, Arneis, Piedrosso, Chianti Classico Reserva, and Valpolicella.
Borgo Alato ProseccoPale light yellow colour, delicate and complex bouquet with fruity notes reminiscent of peach and green apple, there are also good secondary notes of acacia and lilac. Fresh and light on the palate with balanced acidity.
Wilhelm Welch Pinot Grigio
Brilliant gold. Mineral nose opening up to dried grasses and aniseed. Full, rich and fresh palate showing a seductive mineral character and sourness. Abundant volume and length on a slightly tannic finish. Drink with fish.
Angelo Negro Unfiltered Arneis
Pale yellow color with green reflections attenuated by veiling due to the presence of natural yeasts. Bouquet is characterized by a pleasant hint of peach that merging with lychees leaves room for a fresh hint of grapefruit, a pleasant sour note, reminiscent of the yellow apple. Important mineral notes, typical expression of the Roero land.
Ocone Plutone Piedrosso
Smooth shows good earth, cherry nose, medium body, sour cherry, anise, lingering finish . A little butterscotch in the nose. Nice tannins Has a slight hint of vanilla finish
Il Grigio Chianti Classico Reserva
Sourced from their very best vineyards a good demonstration of why CCRs are worth it. Opens with time to something more complex like the best ones. Cherry and red berry base, then this fantastic aromatic layer of mixed spices, herbs and balsamic, nice woody finish. Richer notes of blackberries, earth, and figs. Unlike most Chiantis, this is an example that will take to age with grace, and is in fact just beginning to show some very nice secondary aromas. A brilliant, food friendly, Tuscan Gem.
Fumanelli Valpolicella
Intense ruby red with violet reflexes, pronounced and characteristic bouquet of mature red fruits with a slightly spicy note. Very nice food wine. Heavy cheese and meat dishes. Aromas and flavors of ripe red fruit, cherry with a hint of spice, plum, and a touch of espresso and dark chocolate A wine of great structure and elegance.
