Wine Tasting: MInd Blown

Wines to Blow Your Mind

We have a gathering of flavors that are so pleasing, it will seem they will create a small nuclear bomb that will be dropped upon the senses. We dive into many regions on our exploration of cerebral explosions. We visit Italy, USA, and France. So, comb your hair and shave your ears to prepare for the mind-blowing experience….

@ Humble Vine Wednesday August 14th 4pm till the bottles run dry

Borgo Alato Rose, Extra Dry Spumante, Italy $11

This refreshing sparkler shows crisp apple and bright citrus flavors, notes of almonds, white peaches. Rich ruby color!! Dry, bitter-lemon finish. Ideal as an aperitif and a perfect accompaniment to hors d'oeuvres, sushi and fish.

Leah Jorgensen, Cab Franc Rose Oregon $22

Fresh and bright rose. Ballet slipper pink. Very dry, light flavors and aromas of grapefruit, cotton candy and…. tarragon? Some proceeds go to fund a scholarship for women of science!

1851 Cellars, Cabernet Sauvignon, Washington $14
Homage to Seattle, which was founded in 1851 (according to the City of Seattle archives). Dark Rainier cherries, blueberry and black berry compote, peppers, baking spice and coffee on the nose. Rich black raspberry and cherry, subtle tannins, silky texture with gentle peppers and black peppercorn notes on the palate

Chateau Volcombe, Epicure, France $18

The classic red wine of Valcombe, in the Rhone Valley, is a blend of Grenache Noir (60%), Carignan (20%), Syrah (10%) and Cinsault (10%). However, these are general guidelines and the blend of each vintage’s ultimate cuvée can vary to a large or small degree depending on that year’s growing conditions. The grapes are destemmed and fermented in concrete. The winery is organic.

Hedges Family Estate, “Descendants Liegeois Dupont” Syrah, Washington $29

Dark purple, almost black color. Dried fig and blueberry compote. Chocolate cherry, black licorice and cinnamon spice. Just a hint smoke, leather and cocoa make for an interesting nose that you could smell for hours. The palate is rich and lush with flavors of earthy cocoa, blueberry pie and a pinch of cinnamon. The finish is long and very well structured.
