Honoro Vera, Rueda Blanco, Rueda Spain, $12
The wine exudes intense aromas of white flowers and fresh fruit with exotic tropical notes infused with mouth-watering aromas of lemon curd. Beautifully focused and balanced on the palate with a lush mix of apple and pear.
Klinker Brick, Albarino, Lodi, California $16
Aromas of stone fruit, pear, and honeydew melon lead into full, elegant flavors of green apple and peach laced with a subtle minerality. Bright and Zesty.
Prodigo, Nero D’Avola Appasimento, Sicily, Italy $13
Aromas of ripe dark-skinned fruit and a whiff of exotic spice lead the nose on this straightforward red. The medium-bodied palate offers prune, mature black cherry and a hint of star anise alongside dusty, but rather fleeting tannins that leave a tongue-drying finish.
Melaric, “Le Tandem” Rouge, Saumur France, $22
60% Grolleau and 40% Cabernet Franc, 8 months in tank. Fresh, vivid and grippy with tight raspberry and cherry, lilac, fresh soil, and some pepper notes. Very lively. All natural, no extra sulfites, preservatives or pesticides.
Smith and Hook, Cabernet Sauvignon, Central Coast, California, $22
Relying on decades of experience, the Hahn family makes Cabernet that's easy to quaff. This one features aromas of warm blueberry pie and melting ice cream, with a cigar-box backbone. The flavors mix ripe fruit and smoke, proving light in the mouth and not too serious, but delicious.
Kerloo, Majestic, Washington $26
A blend of Grenache from Angiolina Farm and Upland vineyards along with 22% Stone Tree Mourvèdre, this wine offers aromas of violets, raspberry, plum and assorted herbs. The plum and dark raspberry flavors are pure, ripe and full while retaining a pleasing sense of balance. The complexity only increases with some additional time
